SEASON CHECKER
SEASON 2018-2019 - THE DRAGON KINGS
Players | Richard Davis (Capt), Kai Lam, Tom O'Neill, Joshua Pond, Elias Ruzhansky. |
Position | 7 of 8 |
Comments | The team lost 4 of their 5 matches, with a draw in round 2. However they avoided bottom spot as a result of the record points deduction from The Others. |
SEASON 2017-2018 - THE DRAGON KINGS
Players | Richard Davis (Capt), Kai Lam, Charlie Metcalfe, Tom O'Neill, Anton Rance. |
Position | 5 of 8 |
Comments | A dynamite start saw them leading the table after both of the opening 2 rounds, but after that things went wrong and they lost their last 3 matches to slip out of the top half of the table. |
SEASON 2016-2017 - THE DRAGON KINGS
Players | George Coomber, Richard Davis (Capt), Kai Lam, Charlie Metcalfe, Shivank Khare. |
Position | 3 of 8 |
Comments | Defeat to the eventual runners-up in the opening round may well be what cost them the title. A victory over the eventual champions in the final round took them into 3rd place, but only 1 point behind the winning team. |
SEASON 2015-2016 - THE DRAGON KINGS
Players | Anantha Anilkumar, Harry Chaudhury, George Coomber, Richard Davis, Kai Lam. |
Position | 5 of 10 |
Comments | Playing under a new name for the first time since they were formed in 2003, last year's champions started with a couple of draws - and the win in round 3 must have kept their hopes alive of retaining the title. However defeat in round 4 slammed the door firmly shut as they ended with a mid-table position. |
SEASON 2014-2015 - COULSDON COLLECTION
Players | Robert Maguire, Anantha Anilkumar, Lee Bullock, Lucian Heeler, James Maguire (Capt), Arjun Gobiraj. |
Position | 1 out of 8 |
Comments | They won their first title with 3 wins and 2 draws (the draws came in the first 3 rounds). A strengthening of the squad in the Summer helped - and worth noting that all of their wins came from the narrowest possible margin. |
SEASON 2013-2014 - COULSDON COLLECTION
Players | Anantha Anilkumar, Lee Bullock, James Maguire (Capt), Lucian Heeler, Peter Neary. |
Position | 4 out of 8 |
Comments | On rating the squad can be quite pleased that it managed a top 4 finish, having edged ahead of Chipstead Valley on goal difference with a 50% score. They were always on the edge of the title race but defeat on the final day pushed them back to the middle of the table. |
SEASON 2012-2013 - COULSDON COLLECTION
Players | Keith Barker, Callum Hayes, Lee Bullock, James Maguire (Capt), George Wright, Lucian Heeler. |
Position | 5 out of 6 |
Comments | The team was under new management this season. Not having enough stronger players put pay to any chances they had of finishing as high as they did last season and 2 draws was all they were able to show for their season of hard effort. |
SEASON 2011-2012 - COULSDON COLLECTION
Players | Keith Barker, Ben Fry (Capt), Callum Hayes, Ben Ibbott, Pavan Murali, John Sheekey |
Position | 2 out of 6 |
Comments | A much better season with a more reliable squad, although it is possible that a defaulted board in round 3 could have cost them the title. A win in the final round would also have pipped The Gladiators to top spot in a season when there were there or there abouts most of the way through. |
SEASON 2010-2011 - COULSDON COLLECTION
Players | Ben Fry (Capt), Callum Hayes, Philip Horan, Sean Lintott-White, Peter Rhodes |
Position | 6 out of 6 |
Comments | Defeats in the first 3 rounds left them bottom and 2 draws in the last 2 rounds would have taken them off the bottom but for penalty points that lost them 3 match points. It was a difficult team to captain with players often being unavailable all at the same time. |
SEASON 2009-2010 - COULSDON COLLECTION
Players | Chris Constable, John Constable, Ben Fry (Capt), Sean Lintott-White, Jasper Moore, Tom O'Neill, Prashast Vir |
Position | 5 out of 6 |
Comments | A shock win over Real Betis was the only highlight of a disappointing season, that once again was not helped by the constant need to find extra players, eventually leaving the captain with little or no chance of juggling players around to play at the right moment. In the end, 2 failed to make the required number of appearances. |
SEASON 2008-2009 - COULSDON COLLECTION
Players | John Dougrez-Lewis, Ben Fry (Capt), Rahul Lall, Jasper Moore, Tom O'Neill, Ian Pratley. |
Position | 4 out of 6 |
Comments | Appearance problems dogged the team which did well to finish 4th in the circumstances. They did well to achieve a 50% playing record with 2 wins and 2 defeats in 5 matches. |
SEASON 2007-2008 - COULSDON COLLECTION
Players | Paul Braithwaite, Ben Fry, Simon Long, Matthew Lunn, Jasper Moore, Tom O'Neill, Joseph Wilson. |
Position | 6 out of 6 |
Comments | The old name was revived for a team that was again organised by the CCF office because a captain could not be found from their ranks. A large squad had most to go with the fact that key players were regularly not available and the team finished bottom directly as a result of 1 player being unable to complete the minimum 3 games and therefore points being deducted, albeit something that was out of his hands. |
SEASON 2003-2004 - COULSDON COLLECTION
Players | Dave Cork, Caroline Foster, Paul Jackson, Andrew Mant, Joe Xuereb. |
Position | 6 out of 6 |
Comments | A disappointing season for a team lacking in leadership - they were made up of players at CCF who wanted to be a part of a team. Nobody took on the role of captain, so it was coordinated by the CCF office. |
