Childrens'
Chess
Fund

The Childrens’ Chess Fund is a fund operated by Creating Community Facilities which enables children who would not normally have access to Chess Lessons by offering subsidised or free Chess Lessons to children under the age of 16 who cover one or more of the following criteria:-

  • Disadvantaged (eg Receive Free School Meals, or other known difficulties at home).
  • Underachieving (this can include gifted and talented students).
  • Low Level behaviour or concentration difficulties, low self esteem etc.
  • Unlikely to get access to this kind of opportunity otherwise.
  • Likely to be excited about and committed to attend the club.

During the academic year 2010-2011, CCF have been running a pilot scheme in 5 primary Schools for up to 80 children thanks to funding by the charity SHINE (Support and Help IN Education). Given the success of the scheme, CCF wishes to extend the help available to other schools, which is why the Children’s Chess Fund was established.

Any donation, whatever size, can help a child learn chess. This is not just beneficial from and educational perspective but can also give the child greater confidence through a sense of achievement.
