CCF SUMMER CHESS INFORMATION
(CCF Cup, All Play All and Rapid Play)

The main focus of this competition is the CCF Cup, but the umbrella event, the All-play-All runs to ensure that any player can get a meaningful graded game on any Monday of the competition.  Players are encouraged to come even when they haven't got a scheduled game as there will always be players looking for a game and sometimes, players don't turn up!  In the CCF Cup, the average number of games per person will be 8-9 in about 12 weeks.  You give us the dates you can't do and we set the fixture schedule around them.  Dates can and will change, but regular emails will keep everyone up straight on the plans for the next Monday.  Players entering are expected to be flexible and be prepared to play the odd game on other evenings to ensure the competition finishes on time.

The entry deadline is the penultimate Monday of May.  The draw is made that night.  By the end of the week, fixtures will have been put on the web site or posted out to those not on the net.  Matches officially start on the first Monday in June.  There are various different  formats that we use according to how many players there are in a section; where there are 2 phases to the event, a line is drawn across the schedule in mid to late July, by which time all first phase matches must be completed.

LINK FOR CCF CUP RULES but below are a few bullet points for you:

TIME CONTROLS
FIDE RATED OPEN:        90 minutes for all moves + 30 seconds added per move Fischer timings from round 1.
ALL OTHER SECTIONS:  75 minutes for all moves + 30 seconds added per move Fischer timings from round 1.

FIXTURES
We set the dates based round the dates you give us that you can do.  There are very strict rules about postponements and we state in the rules that players receiving the weekly email are considered to have read, received and accepted any changes we make unless we hear from them otherwise.  You default otherwise.  The obligation is on you to contact us if you don't get the weekly email.  Everyone should expect contact changes in fixtures as CCF seeks to create the best possible combination to ensure matches finish in time.

GENERAL POINTS
No sealed moves may be used - all matches must be completed on the evening they start unless there are very exceptional circumstances.  During the summer, all CCF Cup matches count towards the All-Play-All (except where it duplicates a game already played) and every player may record up to 12 long play and 24 rapid play matches on the results sheet.  You may play once each colour against each player.

All English players in the FIDE Open & Under 160 events must be members of the ECF.
