RAPID PLAY CONGRESS PRIZES - OPEN EVENT

The prize fund will total about 50% of the entry fees taken and will be set during the first round.
Grading prizes will be set then to reflect the entry.

INFORMATION RELEVANT TO ALL PRIZES

Ungraded players shall be unable to win a grading prize unless CCF has been able to obtain an accurate and confirmed estimate that we feel is reasonable to work with for the event. CCF reserve the right to look for past playing history to verify estimated grade & amend this during the day if necessary - please include full details of recent tournaments.

In the event of players eligible for more than 1 prize, we will allocate prizes as we consider best appropriate.

PLEASE NOTE THAT AN ADMINISTRATION FEE IS LIKELY TO BE DEDUCTED FROM ANY PRIZE WE ARE ASKED TO POST.

GENERAL TOURNAMENT INFORMATION

TOURNAMENT TYPE:
All events will be 6 round open Swiss competitions, which will be paired using a "progressive" Swiss system (for at least 2 rounds).  This will (we hope) enable us to run one smooth event whilst at the same time ensuring that the early rounds are not played between players of vastly differing grades.  Players may request a ½ point bye in rounds 1-5. All games will be rapid play graded and results included in the English Chess Federation Grand Prix. Grades will be taken from the latest books that we hold at the venue on the day of each event.

TIMES & DEFAULT TIMES
Round 1 starts at approximately 10-45am. Late entries be here by 10-30am to guarantee a first round pairing. Default time will be 15 minutes after the advertised start of each round. All players play in all rounds (except where there is a bye - no player can get more than 1 bye in the 6 rounds). It is NOT a knockout!  Rounds @ approx 10-45, 12-00, 13-15, 14-30, 15-45, 17-00.

TIME CONTROL:
DIGITALS:   20 minutes for all moves plus 10 seconds added Fischer timings from move 1.
MANUALS:  30 minutes for all moves (these will only be used if we run out of digitals).

LAWS OF CHESS:
FIDE Laws of Chess Apply.  The decision of the CCF controller is final in all matters

MOBILE PHONES:
CCF allows mobile phones onto the premises.  However, we will strictly implement the new FIDE laws.  Players must switch their phones off during play (we will not allow them on silent mode), but players are invited to put their phones on divert to the CCF telephone number (020 8645 0302) whilst the congress is in progress, should they be expected urgent calls.
OTHER ELECTRONIC EQUIPMENT:
To uphold the FIDE laws, players may not interact with anyone using computers whilst their game is still in progress.

RESULTS ON THE WEB SITE:
It is a condition of entry into any CCF tournament that CCF may list results (including names and clubs) on our web site for permanent display.
